"Team Lima" will face off against "Team Kehnle" in a bartending battle with all donations going to help fund life-saving research and educational and support programs.
Team Lima, led by North Rockland native Chris Lima, has raised over $20,000 for babies since 2005.
Team Kehnle, led by North Rockland native Chris Kehnle,
has raised over $6,500 since starting his fundraising campaign in 2014.
The money raised at the "Bartending for Babies" event will go directly to March of Dimes' critical mission:
Prematurity is the #1 killer of babies in the United States. We are working to change that and help more moms have full-term pregnancies and healthy babies. From polio to prematurity the March of Dimes has focused on researching the problems that threaten our children and finding ways to prevent them.
After decades of increases, the rate of premature birth in the United States has now been on a steady decline for the last several years.
This decline – to 9.6 percent today – has saved thousands of babies from being born too soon. It also has saved our nation billions of dollars in excess health care costs. Despite this progress, about 380,000 babies are born prematurely each year.
In 2003, the March of Dimes launched the Prematurity Campaign to address the crisis and help families have full-term, healthy babies. We’re funding lifesaving research and speaking out for legislation that improves care for moms and babies. Worldwide, 15 million babies are born prematurely each year.
